We’re attending GDC and will have 5x7 promotional prints to hand out!
Look familiar? :)

Like all TTWYM stuff, this was created with work from all four of the full-time artists at the studio.
Me: concept art, layout/composition, environment art, prop modeling/texturing, lighting, photoshop compositing, logo/graphic design
Lynda: character modeling/texturing, prop modeling/texturing, logo/graphic design, excessive critique
Matt: pose/animation, critique
Kiyome: Rigging, critique
Lynda also did the design for the other side of this flyer, but you’ll have to pick one up at GDC to see it!

I think we need to talk about how awesome our 3D artist is, so a bunch of her work is in queue now.

Concept | Model

Guys, look at this fantastic model Lynda made out of my garbage concept sketch I sneezed out in like two minutes.

She’s been posting regularly on tumblr now so you should all follow her art blog because she is pretty great.

Check out our new trailer featuring alpha footage!

Absolutely everything shown here is still WIP—half the environments are still BSP brushes with textures slapped on there—but you can see a lot of my work in this trailer.

If you have a steam account, we’d also really appreciate votes for Throw Trucks on Greenlight!

We’ll be livestreaming a multiplayer playtest of the junkyard TONIGHT at 6PM PST! Come watch us kill each other with refrigerators and giant ducks.

Additionally, there’s video from last night’s FIRST EVER multiplayer playtest up on our livestream page. There’s no sound in the video—working on that for tonight—but you can get a better look at the junkyard and see how gameplay might work!

Demos!

So far, everyone’s favorite character is Druid.

Brain In A Jar, a backer reward item.

I wanted to put a screen on it that said things like “help!” and “stop throwing me!” but then I realized there was no way the player would ever see it because this is a small item. OH WELL.

A progress shot on the junkyard level + my fence kit. That skybox is the most placeholdery skybox of all time, haha, look at the brush strokes. This uses the dirt texture I showed as well as a “junkpile” texture that will be improved with environment props to break up the shapes a bit.

I made a very simple build kit for the fences, there’s a few different pieces that can be mushed together to make a complete chain link fence. I tried something kind of weird for it and it worked really well, I like how it lights a lot. That said, we don’t have shaders in yet, I am pretty sure our tech artist and/or programmer has PLANZ for how this should look and we aren’t there yet, so this is just a UE3 light or two, pretty basic stuff. I know I totally drew the junkyard level teal and gold in the poster, but we really wanted to have it at sunrise/sunset.

Oh yeah and the thing in the middle is a throwable giant duck. Things in the background will become a crane and a water tower.

Here’s another one of the ads. I want to touch this one up a little bit (I’m not happy with the orange cat) but it was pretty fun to paint.

Some hypothetical Dancer alternate costumes.

Dancer is my favorite to draw.

These designs require minimal remodeling and keep her silhouette like 99% the same. We’ve had requests for loose pants on her, so I’ll probably do some sketches for that later, but it’ll unfortunately depend on budget and time constraints whether or not we’ll be able to do it.
