Assorted sketches in which I fight anatomy and mostly lose.
I tried to write a thing once where I took RP characters out of RP and tried to keep the same general relationships. This was an attempt at Andy and Ronan, where in this setting he basically finds her on the street doing magic for spare coins and then Is Hagrid for her and tells her stuff and Is Ronany.
I never liked how Ronan looks when I draw him but I think these two are cute and contrasty.
RP group/D&D party as a movie poster I guess.
I tried to make tumblr pun valentines for these characters and instead I accidentally made this.
SUPER speedpaint, I’m really busy with TTWYM stuff, which has been moved to its own tumblr.
This would be book two in a series about a master-apprentice chain (seen in the circles). The idea is that in each book, the “master” is the previous book’s “apprentice.” I hope we weren’t intended to stick to crime noir and/or bodice-rippers, because this is neither. Perhaps fantasy-horror-crime? I’m not a huge fan of strict genre definitions.
Full disclosure: I will try to cram art nouveau necromancers into everything I possibly can. This was mostly a challenge for me in that I do not usually do line art when working digitally… or I do it as part of a painting, not as a separate layer, and certainly not first! I also used Illustrator, which is still quite a new program to me.
I’ve exported to Photoshop and uploaded a psd here and I’ll leave it there for the duration of the next challenge. Obviously, please don’t remove my logo or signature, but hopefully this will help with whatever we’re doing next. :)

Weekly challenge this week. WIP shots in a second!
I did these little character portraits for the 30 days of character development meme because god forbid I do a writing meme without drawing something.
This ended up a lot longer and more complicated than intended, and this is the short version. The ascension also ended up requiring them to kill every NPC they cared about and break Andy’s single moral rule of “do not kill children.”
It probably would have been fun to RP if it had been even remotely IC… but long story short, the DM running this spent a few RL years setting this all up as a means to grief us into leaving the server. It worked— but a bunch of little newbie players followed us and they lost their entire building staff because of it.
TL;DR: IC drama is awesome, OOC drama is stupid.
Oh, and in case it’s too little, big version here.
Another experiment. No refs, palette used.

Here’s another speedpaint Andy, I actually did this while playing a video game with some friends because I did not feel productive enough.
Steam and Avast had a fight, which I’ve now sorted by telling Avast to stop being a jerk and reinstalling Steam (and ALL my games and toolkits, sob), so I should be able to keep working on the apartment thing tomorrow. I meant to have that done much sooner, but I am apparently ~popular~ and was dragged off on all manner of camping trips instead of doing work. I don’t think that will be happening again anytime soon, so I should be able to focus again now. :D
Edit: now that it’s not ass o clock, all I see are anatomy errors. Ugh Andy.
I am alive, I swear.
I have been really busy teaching at iD Tech UW! I have a lot of new stuff but haven’t really had a spare second to scan anything. However, it’s the last week of camp and after this I’m back to job hunting, now with “teaching UDK” in my resume, so we’ll see how that goes.
In the meantime, have some evening painting Andy.
